Match Ball presentation

image

Ian Murchie presents club captain Stuart Lamont with the match ball for the opening league game against GHK on 3rd September.

Ian is a former Accies player who toured Argentina with Scotland in 1969 and who, having scored three tries in warm-up games, was targeted by Argentina when he played for Scotland in a Test match in Buenos Aires. He was seriously injured in a very bad tackle and never played for Scotland again. In that era, Scotland did not recognise international games against Argentina as being “cap internationals” and so Ian Murchie, despite playing for Scotland in a full Test match during an overseas tour, remains uncapped for his country.

He now lives in Arran – and has done so for 32 years – but is a regular visitor to Accies home games.
